Say Goodbye to Version 5.2 and
Welcome to the new PreferredTrade 7 – ClassicV5 Version
We are retiring version 5.2 on Friday, October 26th. It has served well.
And we are introducing a 5.2 “look-alike” in the new
PreferredTrade 7 – ClassicV5.
Important: You must be using Internet Explorer as your browser.
Click on the following link to download the new software, or copy and paste the link into your browser. Then follow the instructions below.

Install and Logon
Click the “Install” button to download the software. It may take several minutes. The application will be saved locally and will run from your PC. A Newedge PreferredTrade 7 “shortcut” icon will automatically be placed on your desktop during the installation process for future start-ups.
Enter your existing client Account Number (User ID) and Password. A box is automatically checked to remember your Account Number on your PC.
After you have
completed the initial installation and Login to PreferredTrade 7, your
subsequent Login process will begin with this same Login window. All of your
previous changes will be saved, and the application will open to your last
layout.
The ClassicV5
The ClassicV5 window has an order entry area (for stocks, options, spreads and futures) on top and attached to it below are the account and trade management tabs, including working orders, filled orders, account information, options chains, and watch lists. This is all very similar to what you were used to using in the old 5.2 software.
The ClassicV5 window will start with the “Stock” tab and “Orders” tab highlighted. You will see that your available account(s) are located to the left, in the control entitled “Accounts”. If you have more than one account this view will expand and become scrollable as needed in order for you to see all accounts.

Note:The ClassicV5 profile has a fixed view of the main window. However you can open new windows to perform two or more tasks concurrently, i.e. viewing your Working Orders and Positions at the same time, or displaying different Watch Lists. Go to the main tool bar located at the top of the application and choose from the drop-down menus to open new windows.
View Positions P/L
In the bottom half of the ClassicV5 window, next to the orders tab, is the “Positions P/L” tab. Click on this tab to view current positions in your account(s) or your YTD P/L.
By default and when you first start up, this view will organize your positions as ungrouped. However, if you have more than one account you may view your positions by Account, Underlying, Symbol or any other column header under the “Position Detail” tab or you can combine these grouping attributes for more dynamic viewing.
View Positions By Account
If you
have more than one trading account and would like to view your positions grouped
by account (or any other column header), you can do the following under the
“Position Detail” tab:
View Positions By Account and Underlying
If you are trading stocks and
options in more than one account you may want to create a sub-group in addition
to the main grouping function discussed above.
1.
First,
group your positions by Account as explained above.
2.
Move
your mouse over the “Underlying” header in the same area and right click on
“Underlying” column header.
3.
A menu
will appear. In this menu choose “Group By This
Column.”
4. The Underlying group will now be a “sub-grouping” under Account as shown below. Your accounts will then be grouped first by Account and secondly by the underlying in each account.
Undoing Position
Detail Views
You can remove any position grouping
you created by right clicking on the header and selecting “Ungroup.” You can
also remove the group headers by clicking, holding and dragging the headers back
to the lower field area where you found them.
Add Market Data to
Watch List
Go to and click on the tab labeled “Watch
List” in the lower field of the ClassicV5 window. There will not be any stocks
there; you will need to add your own.
Click in the blank box labeled “Symbol” and begin to enter ticker symbols for the stocks, options, futures and other securities you want to watch. After typing in the ticker, click the ADD button or press the Enter key.
The
format for stocks is simply the symbol. The format for options is either the root option class, a semicolon, and the
two-character OPRA code, or the long format i.e. IBMJUN50C. The format for
futures is the Newedge two-character future code, the month code and the last
digit of the year i.e. YMU7 or QGM8.
Options Chain Market Data
To view options market data, select the “Options” tab in the lower field of the ClassicV5 window. The system will not show an options chain until a symbol is entered.
Enter either the options root (options class) or the underlying symbol into the blank box labeled “Symbol”. Then, press enter.
The box directly to the right of the symbol field displays the number of strikes around the at-the-money. To change this number you can click on the arrows or you can use your mouse wheel (if you have one) after you have clicked in this box.
The third field (further right number) is the price around which the strikes will be centered. A value of zero defaults this to be the current stock price.
Submit a Stock Order
Each time
you send a BUY or SELL order, a confirmation window will pop-up to confirm your
order. You must click the “OK” button in this box to submit the order. If you
want to disable this feature, there is a check box in the pop-up window labeled
“Don’t show this message again”.
Submit an Options Order
Each time you send a BUY or SELL order, a confirmation window will pop-up to confirm your order. You must click the “OK” button in this box to submit the order. If you want to disable this feature, there is a check box in the pop-up window labeled “Don’t show this message again”.
View Working and Filled Orders
Click the “Orders” tab in the lower panel to view working and filled orders. In the ClassicV5 profile, both the working and filled orders are shown under this tab in separate areas (or panels).
Canceling or Modifying An Order
Click the “Orders” tab in lower panel to view working and filled orders.
Locate the Order in the Working Orders pane. Right click on the order. A menu will appear as show below. Click on “Cancel Selected” and your order will cancel.
To modify an order, use the same steps as noted above. Right click on the order and select “Modify/Cancel.” A “Modify Stock Order” window will appear as shown below.
Once you modify your order parameters as desired, and click on the “Modify Order” button, a confirmation window will appear. Click OK or Cancel (if you made a mistake).
View Account Information, Balances and Equity Review
Click the
“Accounts” tab in the lower window to view all account information. Under the
“Accounts” tab are sub-tabs for viewing and locating specific account
information.
