Protecting Against Online Identity Theft

The fastest growing online identity theft scam is "Phishing"--a scam that uses legitimate-looking spam email to lure investors into revealing their brokerage account or bank information, Social Security numbers, passwords, and other types of confidential information. The NASD in its Investor Alert ("Phishing" and Other Online Identity Theft Scams: Don't Take the Bait), offers investors detailed tips for protecting against online identity theft, including handling of suspicious e-mails and suspicious Web sites, and keeping personal and financial information secure online. Telephone if You Are Unable to Enter Trades Online

Electronic and Internet linkages may go down at any given time. Newedge USA in no way guarantees their reliability. Newedge USA offers alternative access. If you are unable to facilitate a trade electronically, you must contact us by phone at (888) 781-0283 to facilitate trades with a registered representative.

Worthless Security

If you own a security that represents a bankrupt company or is trading for pennies and the commission of the sale would be greater than the proceeds, you can complete the Worthless Security form on the website at http://www.fimatpreferred.com/forms/Worthless_Security_email_PT.pdf.

Your net proceeds will be approximately zero. As a result of the sale you may be able to use the loss to offset any capital gains or report a capital loss on your tax return. Please note: Newedge USA does not provide tax advice and recommends that you consult with your own tax advisor as to the consequences of the sale of worthless stock. In the event that the "worthless" security you have now sold were to become valuable, you would no longer have any right, title or interest in the security. For more information, please contact your registered representative or Customer Service at (888) 781-0283.
