Staging Order Entry

Staging orders allows you to queue up a stock, options and/or futures orders, then send orders at the opportune time all at once. Once sent, you may then monitor the status of all orders sent or only those orders rejected.

Staging Orders

There are several ways to get orders into the Staged system. First, they may be entered one at a time by using the regular or advanced order entry screens. Instead of pressing the send button, press the stage button. This will add the orders to the Staged queue. Second, the user may use the order entry screen that is attached to the Staged system.

Copy and Paste from Excel - Paste from Clipboard

The third options is to copy and paste from a spreadsheet. Highlight the desired area from the spreadsheet and use the copy function. Then highlight the Staged Order screen and click on the Paste button. The spreadsheet format must be as described below:

First Column (Buy/Sell)
The first column is the buy/sell information and it must contain the same information as displayed in the buy/sell drop down field.

For STOCKS
Buy
Buy Close
Sell Long
Sell Short
For OPTION
Buy Open
Buy Close
Sell Open
Sell Close
For Futures
Buy
Sell

Second Column (Quantity)
The second column must be the size of order in number of shares or number of contracts.

Third Column (Symbol)
The third column must be the stock, option or future symbol.

Fourth Column (Price)
The fourth column is not required, unless you want to stage limit orders. Enter the limit price or "0" for market price.

Fifth Column (Account)
The fifth is not required, unless you want to stage orders in different accounts. All of the accounts used must be accessible by the logon used for that session.

Copy and Paste from Excel: Examples

Example 1
By copying only the first three columns: It will stage all orders at "Market" using the default account number, routing destination and duration. Note: For Options be sure to select a default option exchange from the staging order entry before Pasting from Clipboard.

Example 2
By copying the first four columns: It will stage all orders at the desired price using the default account number, routing destination and duration. Note: For Options be sure to select a default option exchange from the staging order entry before Pasting from Clipboard.

Example 3
By copying the first five columns: It will stage all orders at the desired price and account number using the default routing destination and duration. Note: For Options be sure to select a default option exchange from the staging order entry before Pasting from Clipboard.

Other Features

The Staged Order Entry window may be hidden by clicking the check box. This is mainly used when the copy and paste from a spreadsheet is being used as the method for populating the Staged Orders Grid.. When staging orders directly from the Staged Orders Window, the user may uncheck the 'Hide Order Entry' checkbox in order to access order entry fields.

Staged Order Grid

Orders may be sent, edited, or deleted by selecting staged order items in the grid and right clicking the mouse and selecting one of the following:

Send All Orders
If you have multiple orders, select "Send All Orders" and the orders will be sent all at once. There will be a message for you to confirm to "Send ALL Orders". Select YES or NO. The confirm field will change from "STAGE" to "SENT" and all orders will appear in the working order window. If there is a problem sending a staged order, the confirm field will remain "STAGE" to be edited or deleted. To resend sent order select "Reset All".

Delete All Orders
If you want to remove staged orders select "Delete All Orders" and the staged orders will all be removed from the stage window. There will be a message for you to confirm to "Delete ALL Orders". Select YES or NO.

Multi Mode

There are two modes in which the user can view staged orders and their status after they are sent.

Standard Mode
In Standard Mode, orders that are sent and are not rejected by Newedge USA's order management system will be automatically removed from the stage order window can be viewed in the Working Order window until filled or cancelled. Orders that are rejected by Newedge USA's order management system will remain in the stage order window and display the error message in the confirm field.

Send and Watch Mode
The Send and Watch Mode will leave all staged orders on the stage order window whether they are sent or rejected by Newedge USA's order management system.

Send, Edit, Delete Staged Orders

Send
To send a staged order, click the right mouse button on the order and choose "Send" from the menu that appears. The confirm field will change from "STAGE" to "SENT" (if clear on send is not checked) and the order will appear in working order window. If there is a problem sending a staged order, the confirm field will remain "STAGE" to be edited or deleted. To resend a sent order select "Reset Selected". If clear on send is not checked, the order will disappear from the staged window and the order will appear in working orders.

Edit
To edit a staged order before sending it, click the right mouse button on the order and choose "Edit" from the menu that appears. The order will be sent back to the order entry window to be edited. When you are done select the stage button.

Delete
To delete a staged order, click the right mouse button on the order and choose "Delete" from the menu that appears. The staged order is deleted.

Reset All
If you want to resend all staged orders that have already been "SENT" you will need to reset them. The "Reset All" feature changes the confirm fields from "SENT" to "STAGE".

Reset Selected
If you want to resend a staged order that has already been "SENT" you will need to reset it. The "Reset Selected" feature changes the confirm field from "SENT" back to "STAGE".
